Why it matters:
The competition is part of our Cost of Not Knowing campaign focusing on the impact financial education can have on children and schools — and it’s rooted in something we know to be true: the earlier children learn about money, the better.
Research by Cambridge University found that financial habits are formed by the age of seven, yet too many young people still leave school without the basics of budgeting, saving or understanding a payslip.
Our own research found that 35% of adults feel they missed the chance to make the most of their money because they didn’t learn core skills early enough. That’s the gap we’re working to close. Starting in primary school, through seven years of progressive, play-based learning, our Change The Game programme helps children become informed consumers, savvy savers, and mindful spenders – all while having fun.
Almost 90% of teachers we work with say pupils retain their financial knowledge year on year. Because when financial education is fun and engaging, it sticks.
