However, it can also be stressful and anxiety-inducing. There’s so much to take on board – from managing course timetables, to finding your way around a new city, to all the recreational opportunities to explore and enjoy. Most students barely think about their finances until they find themselves struggling to make ends meet or pay back debt.

Money Ready’s Cost of Not Knowing research shows that more than half (54%!) of 18–24-year-olds worry about money, and 22% wish they’d learned about student loans earlier.

Fewer than 4% of people learn about borrowing and credit while still at school. So it’s no wonder 35% of Brits feel they could have made more of their money if they’d gained financial knowledge sooner.

By the time many of us encounter these topics for the first time, the cost of not knowing is already adding up.

That’s why Money Ready is running #GetUniReady for a second year.

Just a few tips can make budgeting easier and help you get to grips with everything from student loans to essentials vs nice-to-haves.
